Disaster recovery funding available for South-East Queensland Sport and Recreation clubs
An immediate $5000 is now available for sport and recreation clubs based in South-East Queensland to help with the clean-up after Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
The funds can be used to replace damaged equipment, pay for clean-up costs and cover insurance excess.
The same funds were made available to North Queensland sporting clubs hit by flooding in January and February, with 82 sporting clubs so far having applied for the $5000 grants.
To access the Sport and Recreation Disaster Recovery Program funding, clubs need to be located in disaster declared areas, which now includes most South-East Queensland Local Government Areas.
Some not-for-profit clubs may also qualify for additional financial assistance under the joint Australian and Queensland Government funded Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
Sport and Recreation Officers will be on the ground when it is safe, to assess the damage at severely impacted sporting facilities and assist clubs to apply for funding.
