The International Legends of League is a community-focused rugby league initiative that brings together past and present players, local clubs and regional communities to celebrate the game while strengthening grassroots participation. The event is designed to inspire the next generation of athletes, promote healthy, active lifestyles, and foster meaningful engagement among elite sporting figures, local players, volunteers, and families. Through exhibition matches, clinics, school visits and community activities, International Legends of League provides invaluable exposure for young participants, boosts local club morale and volunteer recognition, and drives economic and social benefits for host regions by drawing visitors and renewed interest in community sport.

The Innisfail event celebrated top-level rugby league talent and brought the excitement of the sport to the heart of regional Queensland.

Adding to the excitement, NRL legend Billy Slater made a special appearance, taking the field for the Cassowary Coast All Stars as well as connecting with players, meeting fans, and sharing his insights on teamwork, strategy, and perseverance—values that define rugby league at every level. His presence drew crowds and added a unique highlight to the event.
