Games On! program delivers $30 million boost for Queensland grassroots sport

04 Feb 2026

Queensland community sporting organisations are set to benefit from a $30 million funding boost, with a new round of the Games On! Grassroots Infrastructure Program opening today.

Our Games On! program supports local clubs and organisations to upgrade facilities, improve access and encourage more Queenslanders to get involved in sport. By investing in fit-for-purpose infrastructure, we’re helping communities grow participation and strengthen grassroots sport across the state.

We’re supporting infrastructure improvements in the lead-up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond, creating a lasting legacy of inclusive, high-quality sporting facilities that benefit local communities for generations to come.

To date, Games On! funding has already delivered 119 projects across Queensland, with sporting organisations across the state seeing real benefits—from regional clubs to urban facilities.

Registrations of Interest are now open under two funding categories:

  • The Field of Play Fund LINK offers $20 million for smaller, community-level projects such as upgrading fields, courts, club amenities, lighting or shade structures to help get more people active.

  • The Partnership Fund LINK provides $10 million for larger, collaborative projects, including multi-use precincts and clubhouses that improve access, participation and functionality for both local use and future events.

Together, these funding streams aim to boost participation, enhance accessibility and deliver infrastructure that meets the diverse needs of Queensland communities.

Eligible organisations are encouraged to register their interest online now LINK. Registrations close on 18 March 2026, with shortlisted applicants invited to submit a full application.

To support strong applications, organisations can explore the new Places and Spaces infrastructure resources available on Sport HQ LINK. These practical tools provide guidance on planning, scoping and delivering community sport projects.

The Games On! program is a unique opportunity to strengthen Queensland’s sporting communities, improve facilities and create welcoming, inclusive spaces that support participation now and into the future.
