Football partnership Roars to life

05 Dec 2024

The Queensland Government is partnering with Brisbane Roar Football Club to bring football to more Queenslanders.

A grant to the club’s not-for-profit entity, Roar Recreation and Welfare Limited, will help expand the Football Queensland and Roar Football in the Community Program, with the aim to increase participation and encourage more people to be active.

Through 2025, more than 10,000 Queenslanders are expected to take part in the program which will involve a range of activities.

Brisbane Roar will deliver more than 270 opportunities, including holiday clinics, community and school outreach programs, training and education, and game day activations.

Brisbane Roar Football Club Chairman and Chief Executive Kaz Patafta expressed profound gratitude for the government's commitment.

"From our ongoing consultation with the Queensland Government, we are beyond grateful to be receiving this support to grow our community programs in collaboration with Football Queensland," he said.

“Brisbane Roar recognises its unique position as the only professional football club in Queensland and understands the critical role it plays in promoting sports participation at the grassroots level.

“With this new funding, Brisbane Roar, together with Football Queensland is set to provide more opportunities for local Queensland kids to engage in football, aiming to expand the sport's reach and impact across the region.”
