The Queensland Government is committed to strengthening the state’s racing industry. We want to ensure the long-term viability of all three codes across the state, while maintaining high animal welfare standards.

We will undertake a comprehensive, independent review in 2025 that will shape the future of Queensland’s racing industry looking to 2045 and beyond.

Key focus areas for the Review

  • Making sure all racing codes are financially sustainable.
  • Improving integrity and animal welfare standards.
  • Upgrading infrastructure to meet current and future needs.
  • Supporting the success of country racing events.
  • Encouraging better collaboration across the industry.

The Queensland Racing Review begins with the release of the discussion paper.

This document supports initial engagement with industry to inform the framework and guiding principles for the review.

It includes a series of questions for the racing industry to consider.

How to have your say

There are a number of ways to have your say as part of this initial consultation:

  • Provide a written submission. Submissions can address any topic related to the racing industry. The questions posed in the discussion paper are only a guide to start conversation.

    • mail your submission to The Department of Sport, Racing, and the Olympic and Paralympic Games PO 15478, City East Q 4002.
  • Complete the survey.

The deadline for submissions is midnight 30th March 2025.
