Right to information
Accessing government information
The Queensland Government is committed to providing access to information held by the Government unless, on balance, it is contrary to the public interest to provide that information.
Legislation came into effect on 1 July 2009, namely:
Right to information aims to make more information available, provide equal access to information across all sectors of the community, and provide appropriate protection for individuals' privacy.
More information about right to information is available on the Queensland Government website.
Is the information you're looking for already available?

Requesting information
We can often release non-personal information that is not sensitive or confidential, or your own personal information, without needing a formal RTI or IP application. This is called an ‘administrative release’.
Prior to lodging a request, we recommend contacting the Right to Information team on (07) 3452 6949 or email rti@dsdilgp.qld.gov.au to discuss the type of information you are requesting and whether it can be released administratively.
Where information is not already available or able to be released administratively, you can apply to access documents through a formal application under the Right to Information Act 2009 or Information Privacy Act 2009 (the IP Act) (whichever is applicable).
