Major upgrades underway for Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast Recreation Precincts
Construction is underway on upgrades to the popular Gold Coast Recreation Precinct at Tallebudgera and Sunshine Coast Recreation Precinct at Currimundi.
These upgrades are part of a $28 million-plus investment to improve our Sport and Recreation venues across Queensland, and will benefit not only local families but also visiting tourists and the wider Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast communities.
The Sunshine Coast Recreation Precinct will see some exciting upgrades, including the expansion of the leisure centre with new adjacent building facilities, new accessible gymnasium, recovery space with ice baths and sauna, sport and recreation office space plus providing beach access path linking to the existing coastal walkway, and an additional emergency access road. The tender for this work was awarded in late 2024 to I.C.M Construction (QLD) Pty Ltd.
The Gold Coast Recreation Precinct, located on the beautiful Tallebudgera Creek, will include the development of new accessible accommodation, a new outdoor gym and a new carpark to support increased operations. The tender to carry out this work was awarded in late 2024 to FK Gardner & Sons Pty Ltd (FKG).
The upgrades to these facilities aim to encourage Queenslanders to increase their physical activity while supporting performance pathways for emerging athletes. Already hugely popular with families, schools, and sporting groups, these enhanced facilities will encourage more Queenslanders to get more active more often, ensuring healthier communities in the long run.
