Redcliffe to shine as host of the 2027 Women’s Softball World Cup
Queensland is set to take centre stage in 2027, with the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals confirmed to take place at Talobilla Park, Kippa-Ring, in the City of Moreton Bay.
This landmark event will coincide with another major sporting spectacle, the Men’s Rugby World Cup, making 2027 a mega-year for international sport in Queensland.
The Women’s Softball World Cup Finals will feature the top eight teams from around the globe, competing in four games per day over six jam packed days in April 2027. The event promises to deliver world-class action and an electric atmosphere, bringing more visitors to the state and helping to position Queensland as Australia’s events capital
Softball Australia CEO Sarah Loh highlighted the significance of the event for the sport and the community.
“The return of the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup to Australian soil is a powerful opportunity to inspire the next generation with Olympic dreams, boost grassroots participation and deliver lasting benefits to local communities,” said Ms Loh.
“The strong support from all levels of Government to bring the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup to Brisbane is both welcome and vital.”
This tournament will serve as the premier global softball event ahead of the LA 2028 Olympic Games, where softball will make its much-anticipated return to the Olympic program after being absent from Paris 2024.
We are excited to support the event alongside the Australian Government, Tourism and Events Queensland, the City of Moreton Bay, and Softball Australia, showcasing the strong partnerships driving international sport in the region.
As part of the hosting rights, Queensland will also secure a suite of national championships in the lead up Brisbane 2032.
