Magic Round locked in for Queensland through to 2032
We have secured the long-term future of NRL Magic Round, with the event locked in at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium through to 2032 under a new agreement between us, the National Rugby League and Brisbane City Council.
The deal will transform Magic Round into an even bigger celebration of rugby league, expanding the event beyond a single weekend to deliver greater benefits for fans, communities and businesses across the State. From 2027, it will grow into a week-long festival of footy, featuring more matches, more teams and a stronger statewide footprint.
A new regional footy festival will be introduced, headlined by the inaugural Premier’s Cup Junior Carnival, culminating in a final played ahead of the Women’s State of Origin in Townsville. Live sites will also be activated in regional communities, ensuring more Queenslanders can be part of the experience no matter where they live.
In Brisbane, fans can expect an enhanced atmosphere with expanded activations across Caxton Street and the city, alongside increased community programs bringing clubs and players closer to local communities in South-East Queensland.
The agreement will also deliver a dedicated tourism showcase to highlight Queensland to national and international audiences, encouraging visitors to stay longer and explore more of the State. A new industry events calendar will run alongside Magic Round, creating opportunities for business engagement, investment and long-term economic growth.
Securing Magic Round through to 2032 reinforces Queensland’s position as Australia’s events capital and supports the State’s long-term vision to grow its visitor economy, while building momentum towards the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Since its inception in Brisbane, Magic Round has become one of the biggest events on the national sporting calendar. This new deal ensures it will continue to grow, delivering lasting social and economic benefits and cementing its place as a highlight for rugby league fans and Queensland communities alike.
