Gold Coast announced as a host city for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™
Gold Coast has been confirmed as a host city for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™, with the tournament scheduled to run from 1 to 21 March 2026.
This announcement follows a meeting of the AFC Women’s Football Committee in Kuala Lumpur, where dates and match venues were finalised. Set to take place across Sydney, Perth and the Gold Coast, the tournament will feature the top 12 nations from Asia in women’s football competing for the title.
Building on the legacy of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, which captivated the nation and brought global attention to Australia’s passion for women’s sport, this tournament is expected to further energise support for women’s football. The Queensland Government has committed funding to secure a hosting role, in conjunction with a $15 million investment by the Australian Government, reinforcing its commitment to creating pathways for future talent and celebrating female athletes on the international stage.
Hosting the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026™ marks a milestone for Australian sport, as the tournament brings quality international women’s football back to the country following the excitement of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. Gold Coast Stadium in Robina, known for its electric atmosphere and track record of hosting memorable events, is set to welcome football fans in a festival of sport, unity, and celebration.
