Historic new grandstand cements Eagle Farm legacy

19 Jan 2026

A proud new chapter is beginning at Queensland’s spiritual home of Thoroughbred racing, with a new grandstand at Eagle Farm Racecourse.

After serving Eagle Farm racegoers for nearly 70 years, the John Power Stand will be replaced with new spectator facilities.

The new Terraces facility will meet modern safety and accessibility requirements and will give racegoers a premium racing experience for decades to come.

An initial investment of $25 million will go towards the first phase of redevelopment, allocated from the Racing Infrastructure Fund.

The new spectator facilities will be delivered in a partnership between Racing Queensland and the Brisbane Racing Club.

The new grandstand is a key part of the Queensland Government’s review into the racing industry, The Nex Lap: A plan for the future of Queensland racing.

The Terraces will not only continue Eagle Farm Racecourse’s 160-year legacy but will cement the Queensland track as a premier racing venue in Australia.

The ageing 4,000-person John Power stand was built in 1957.

Demolition works are set to start at the conclusion of the 2026 Winter Racing Carnival in August.
