Queensland and Japan strengthen sport and health innovation partnership

23 Mar 2026

Queensland’s sport and health industries will benefit from a new international partnership following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Queensland Government and Japanese partners to deliver the Japan‑Australia Sports & Health Innovation Exchange (JASHIE).

Developed in partnership with JA Network, Mizuno Corporation and Nakanoshima Qross, JASHIE aims to connect, grow and sustain a sport and health innovation ecosystem between Queensland and Japan. The MOU establishes a two‑year partnership focused on strengthening collaboration across sport, health and the business of sport.

The partnership will support innovation across areas including high‑performance sport, participation and active lifestyles, health and wellbeing, mental health, sleep science, and technologies used in major events, stadiums and fan engagement. It may also provide Queensland startups and organisations with access to investors, research partners and international networks in both countries.

The agreement supports Queensland’s growing global connections and contributes to the long‑term legacy of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, helping position the state as a leader in sport and health innovation on the world stage.
