Funding and grant eligibility

We are proud to provide a broad range of sport funding and grants programs to empower more Queenslanders to enjoy physical activity and improve their health and wellbeing.

Each program and associated frameworks, procedures and processes comply with the Queensland Treasury Financial Accountability Handbook, Volume 6 – Grant Management.

Eligibility framework

We have developed an eligibility framework that informs eligibility decisions through 5 principles.

  • Principle 1 - Risk to the Queensland Government is considered when determining the eligibility of activities and organisations
  • Principle 2 - Eligibility directly correlates with program objectives and outcomes to support participation opportunities
  • Principle 3 - Eligibility will be established to ensure entities, with the appropriate risk mitigation requirements, are funded to align with funding and grants program outcomes
  • Principle 4 - Human Rights will be considered when developing program eligibility
  • Principle 5 - Where another government agency has portfolio responsibility, eligibility would only be considered through coordinated effort to achieve program outcomes

The Framework recognises that health and wellbeing benefits are broader than achieving moderate to vigorous physical activity levels, and adopts a principle-based approach, meaning eligibility decisions are targeted to individual program objectives and intended outcomes.

Funding and grant eligibility requests

Please note eligibility for each program can be found within the program guidelines.

Contact your local Sport and Recreation office if you have any questions regarding funding and grants eligibility for your activity or organisation.
