Cardwell Tropical Mountain Bike Network

Project overview

The Queensland Government is supporting the Cassowary Coast Regional Council’s investigations into a locally-driven proposal for a new mountain bike trail network in Cardwell, North Queensland.

In 2020, we matched Council’s $50,000 contribution for a feasibility study into the proposed Cardwell Tropical Mountain Bike Network, which was completed by World Trail Pty Ltd in August 2021.

Following the previous success of the early works project completed in June 2022, the Queensland Government committed a further $150,000 into the next phase of the project under the Tracks and Trails Pilot Program to support increased participation in mountain biking and hiking activities throughout Queensland, including the Cassowary Coast.

Stage 2 works are underway, and scheduled for completion in 2nd quarter 2026.

More information regarding the project can be found on the Cassowary Coast Regional Council's website.
