Consultation on proposed regulation changes for Suncorp Stadium
The Major Sports Facilities Regulation 2026 (MSF Regulation) provides for the annual number of special events (concerts and religious events) that may be held at Brisbane Stadium (Lang Park) (commonly known as Suncorp Stadium) and the conditions for those events.
From 22 September to 6 October 2026 the Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games (the Department) undertook consultation, on the following matters relating to special events at Suncorp Stadium:
- Extending the temporary concert cap of up to 21 concerts per calendar year past 2026.
- Extending concert finishing times by up to 30 minutes only in exceptional circumstances (e.g. to ensure public safety during extreme weather events).
- Providing alternative noise measurement and reporting requirements for certain religious events.
- Defining ‘religious events’ to ensure certain organisational conferences are not included.
Consultation on those matters is now closed. The Department is currently analysing survey responses and submissions received and will continue to work with key stakeholders and engage with the Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games to determine the need for potential amendments to the MSF Regulation.
