Consultation on concert conditions for People First Stadium and Cbus Super Stadium

Live music and entertainment productions in stadiums are popular events globally, drawing large crowds and generating significant economic and cultural benefits. Residents in the communities surrounding stadiums can sometimes raise concerns about the impacts of concert and entertainment events, such as noise and disruption to the road network. However, the Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games (the Department) has found that when managed well, stadium concerts and entertainment events generate very few community complaints.

Following amendments to the Major Sports Facilities Act 2001 in early 2026 which allows regulatory conditions to be set for special events (i.e. major concerts) at People First Stadium (Carrara Stadium) and Cbus Super Stadium (Robina Stadium), the Department undertook consultation on these conditions from 22 September to 6 October 2026.

Consultation on proposed conditions is now closed. The Department is currently analysing survey responses and submissions received and will work with key stakeholders and engage with the Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games to develop and implement appropriate, fit-for-purpose regulatory conditions for special events at People First Stadium and Cbus Super Stadium.
